Wow first update in months!

I've put art aside for some time now. I just couldn't bring myself to pick up a pencil or a paint brush to do anything...until today when I had some inspiring conversation with a dear friend. He inspired me to be a better person and inspired me to start doing art again. Anyway, this drawing isn't much but it's a good start for me to start this year (even though Jan is almost over...better late then never!)

If you've been wondering what I have been up to the last 5 months when I wasn't doing any drawings or paintings, I've been crocheting. I'm actually surprised that I haven't gotten bored with it yet. I started a blog to help myself keep track of all the projects. Feel free to check it out!

I decided to try watercolor with the sketch I did a few days ago (click). It's on super cheap watercolor paper and I can't say I like the texture. it's not very obvious until it's been scanned.

It's been a while since I drew anything and I made a promise to myself to never let it happen again. This is based off of this photo: (click). I tried to stylize it a bit from the photo. Will probably make this into a watercolor painting later this week.

I got extremely frustrated with painting clothes so I kind of just gave up on it...I'll save it for a different day. I think I'm done with the portrait. I'm running into the problem where the more i work on it, the less I like so I guess this is a good stopping point.

These drawings/paintings were done for illustration techniques 2 class that I just finished up today. First set of images are live paintings of an orange. The one of the left is done in oil paint and the one on the right is done in acrylic. As for the second set of drawings, the drawing on the left is done in pencil and the one of the right is done in watercolor.

This is an unfinished painting of Johnny Depp. I haven't worked with oil in a very long time so this was a challenge, but a fun one, so I'm not complaining too much.

This quarter of school is finally over. I scanned a few pages from my sketchbook from my sketchbook class and compiled a small page of some of the stuff I did this quarter. Hopefully I'll finish filling in that sketchbook soon.

I wanted to see how illustration boards handled acrylic, and how acrylic handled color pencils, so I made this little painting on a piece of scrap illustration board I found. I painted this a few months back. I don't know if this is the exact texture I was looking for, but I definitely enjoyed painting it.

This is a page from a children's book I turned in for my book illustration class. All the pages are kind of rushed, but I really wanted to get all the pages done and turn in a finished book. The book definitely needs more development, something I'll probably work on later. For now, I'm just glad I got the book bound and handed in on time.
